Granton School Board Approves Insurance Items

The Granton School Board approved some insurance items at their meeting.
The Board approved the Health, Dental, Vision & Property/Liability Insurance for 2021-22, approved Security Health Plan for Health Insurance at a rate increase of 6.2% for the 2021-22 school year, and approved the Delta Dental Vision Plan and the new Vision Insurance Plan at Employee cost for the 2021-22 school year.
The Board also approved moving to phase yellow of the Re-opening Plan following discussion of COVID-19 Protocol, meaning masks are required on buses and in hallways with masks being optional in the classroom once seated. The motion was passed allowing administration flexibility.
Following a detailed presentation by Tom Schafer of Complete Control, regarding HVAC (Heating, Ventilation & Air Conditioning) information and quotes for HVAC equipment and controls, no action was taken. The Board decided to hold a separate meeting to gain more information.
The Board also approved Dennis Kuehn as the Granton School representative for the CESA 10 Annual Convention on August 5th and the Board approved the Mueller Electric bid for $48,225 for LED lighting improvements throughout the building.
The Board also approved the open enrollment applications for 2021-22, approved the 2021-22 WIAA High School Membership renewal, and approved School Board Policy Chapter 2, Section F as presented.
Following an Executive Session the Board approved the resignation of Alaina Rojas and thanked her for her service, approved the resignation of Victor Rojas and thanked him for his service, approved the resignation of Courtney Schoessow and thanked her for her service, approved the 2021-22 teacher contracts as presented, approved the 2021-22 bus driver contracts as presented, approved the non-certified and supervisor salaries and wages as presented, and approved hiring Makino Polsean as a child care worker.
The Board also heard the Spotlight on Education. Principal Amanda Kraus noted the spotlight for May is the track team. Ms. Kraus provided a summary of individual and team placements at track meets held this year.
The Board also took care of reorganizational matters. Theresa Hasz was elected to serve as President, Dennis Kuehn was elected to serve as Vice President, Cheryl Steinbach was elected to serve as Treasurer, and Doug Eichten was elected to serve as Clerk.
The Board also heard some Committee Reports. Dennis Kuehn and Doug Eichten reported that they, along with Interim District Administrator James Kuchta, attended the Marshfield Area Chamber of Commerce and Industry Eighteenth Crystal Apple Awards Banquet at Hotel Marshfield on May 5 as Granton School Representatives honoring teacher of distinction Ryan Westaby.
Paul Knoff and Theresa Hasz reported that they attended the Annual FFA Awards Banquet on May 5th. The Board then heard the Administrators’ Reports. Mrs. Kraus updated the board regarding conferences & virtual learning day, banquets & award season, and the end of year parade.
Interim Administrator James Kuchta updated the board on information including the Granton Community Childcare Center, the Strategic Plan webpage on the school website, staff compensation, and a thank you to the Granton Area School Foundation for providing Educator Appreciation Lunch for staff from the Stone Press Food Truck on Friday, May 7th.
