(Wis DOT) -Governor Walker has proclaimed November 30 as “Snowplow Driver Appreciation Day” in Wisconsin. Wisconsin has about 3,000 county and municipal snow plow operators who often work long hours under challenging weather conditions.Motorists can do their part by staying off roads during severe winter storms so highway crews can do their work.If you must travel, state law requires drivers stay at least 200 feet behind a working snowplow.
Under a nationally unique and nearly century-old partnership, the Wisconsin DOT contracts with county highway departments to handle snow and ice removal from the state highway system.
