Diet Tips from Memorial Medical Center Registered Dietician Ben Mohr, Final

Friday, November 18th, 2016 -- 11:36 AM

-When it comes to a proper diet, navigating all the different roads of information can be difficult.

I spoke with Ben Mohr, Registered Dietician at Memorial Medical Center, and he answered some common questions people have when it comes to their diets. Ben offered some tips on how to eat healthy during the holidays.

"The holiday season can be pretty tricky. You've got Thanksgiving, you got Christmas, you got New Years and all those are based right around food. Plenty of food at all those holiday meals. So, really just trying to not over do it at any meal. It is just one meal of the day, so we really want to focus on those meals beforehand and those meals leading up to. So, the days around it. One meal is not going to completely take you off balance, so it's really looking at keeping the days beforehand on schedule and not overdoing at those specific meals."

He also offered his thoughts on cheat days.

"I don't think that at any point you should ever completely cut out a certain food. Especially if it's something that you like. Just keeping things in moderation can really help. So, whether that ends up being a cheat meal or a cheat food that you may have. Still not overdoing it is going to be key there."
