Thanksgiving Meal to Cost Less this Year

(Wisconsin Ag Connection) -Your Thanksgiving meal will likely cost less to prepare next week when compared to the previous year's holiday.According to the Wisconsin Farm Bureau Federation, a traditional holiday meal for a family of ten will cost around $47.91--which is down $2.17 from last year's average when avian flu drove chicken and turkey prices higher. This year's annual survey is now at its lowest level since 2010. The Madison-based farm group conducted its survey of 12 food items of the traditional Thanksgiving meal in 25 communities across Wisconsin. Farm Bureau Spokesperson Amy Manske says the report's findings show there is real stability in food prices these days.
Meanwhile, the American Farm Bureau also released its survey of the same 12 items for a traditional Thanksgiving Day meal at $49.87. That was 24-cents below the 2015 survey, and continues to average less than $5 per person. There were several Wisconsin communities that took part in the survey including Marshfield and Medford.
