Clerk's Report at Granton Village Board Meeting

Wednesday, November 16th, 2016 -- 8:00 AM

-The Granton Village Board heard the Clerk’s Report at their meeting last week.

According to the unofficial minutes from the meeting, the village worked with Lori Rosemore and Nicole Bader from Ayres Associates to locate monitoring wells along Railroad Street. In 2011, Metco abandoned monitoring wells at the old Cenex bulk fuel site, some of which were associated with the agrichemical investigation. Ayres will be installing replacement monitoring wells and collecting ground water samples for contamination related to the former Cenex agricultural facility. After three rounds of sampling, and if DATCP approves, the site will be submitted to DATCP for closure and the monitoring wells will be properly abandoned. DATCP may require up to 5 wells to be reinstalled along Railroad Street; west of Maple Street and south of Kirk Street. They will keep the village informed as the project progresses.

Also, the marble bench that was damaged when it was struck by the mower in the cemetery was taken to Marshfield Monument on October 17th. Marshfield Monument did a wonderful job and they even raised the concrete slab. The repair bill for $350 was submitted to the Federal Agency for reimbursement through workforce development. The clerk worked with Britta to submit a request to change the CDBG split amount due to a 191,000.00 change in grant value. The village will receive a 50/50 split. The November 8th presidential election was completed without incident. Results were posted. Finally, the village was notified by the cabin winner Randy Jensen that he is selling the cabin to Vern and Sheila Kind. He was advised that he needed to stop by the village to pay the taxes on his cabin and sign off ownership to the Kinds. The Kinds have been notified the cabin needs to be picked up ASAP.
