-The Owen City Council heard the Public Works Report at their meeting last week.

A council member thanked the city for putting mulch in the low-lying Community Garden Plots. The mayor inquired as to how the meter replacements were going. The city is on schedule to replace 10% of their oldest water meters each year to remain compliant with the Public Service Commission. They council heard an update on the East 4th Street project. It was reported the streets will remain gravel throughout the winter to settle properly. The intersections at 4th and Paul and the widening of the intersection on Paul and 3rd are nearing completion. Sidewalks will not be replaced until next spring. It was also stated the 2nd pay request for Haas Sons, in the amount of $235,261.29 was now due, leaving the amount of roughly $200,000 to be paid upon completion in the spring. This is a unit based contract and the city is paying for work that has been completed thus far.

They attended both the Phosphorus and the Inflow and Infiltration Classes for 6 credits each.
