-The Neillsville City Council heard some updates on Memorial Medical Center’s new facility at their meeting on Thursday of last week.Since the announcement from Memorial Medical Center that they’ll potentially be building a new facility with funds acquired from the USDA, many people have had questions. One of the biggest concerns residents, and the council, had with the announcement was in regards to the $1.5 million loan the city provided to Memorial Medical Center. Gary Weirauch explained that the loan will be wrapped into the loan from the USDA and the city will get their money back being completely protected. He also said the new facility will have no reflection on the city’s taxes. Another concern was what’s going to happen to the old facility. At this time, they’re still discussing what will be done with it. There was a resident in attendance at the meeting on Thursday with concerns about the facility.
The council also heard the Public Works Report. The usual amount of work was done in the city including equipment maintenance, parks and cemetery maintenance, trimming and pruning trees, street sweeping, hauling brush and compost and more. Leaf pickup also continues. It was stated that the department will be taking a small break as the get the Christmas decorations out and up. It was also stated that if you don’t have your leaves out by the curb the 2nd time the city comes around, they probably won’t be back again.
