(Mike Warren, WDLB) -Marshfield officials held a grand opening ceremony on Sunday for the city's new public library.Dozens of people took time out on a sunny and warm Sunday afternoon for the official grand opening of the Everett Roehl Marshfield Public Library, after a soft opening was held in early September. Fundraising for the new library began in June of 2013, at a time when the library was competing for dollars with other projects. Fundraising Campaign co-chair Bill Hocking said his group was charged with raising four-million dollars, and it raised over five-million--including more than one-million from Everett and Delores Roehl. Another three-million dollars came from the city of Marshfield.
The new library has a number of unique features, including the Susan A. Nelson Children's Center, the J.P. Adler Room, and the Prevention Genetics teen area. There's also the Delores Roehl Connector, linking the new library with the old one, which is in the process of getting remodeled into a community center.
