The Clark County Board of Supervisors approved the 2017 County Budget at their meeting on Wednesday.

In the end, the board approved a resolution for the 2017 budget with expenditures coming to $67,502,380, revenues in the amount of $42,878,265. Fund balances of $898,199 have been applied to reduce the levy and the total indebtedness of Clark County as of December 31st 2015 is $3 million. The final levy came to $15,725,916 leading to a mil rate of $8.06 per $100,000 of worth of property. There were a couple amendments made to the budget including some funds needed when it comes to electronic filing for Child Support. The state recently mandated that all reports be electronically filed and a new hire was needed to fill that burden. Also, $800,000 was pulled from the general fund so Clark County Rehabilitation and Living Center can do some capital projects that need to be completed as their resolution failed.

During the public hearing portion of the budget, many people employed or involved with the Clark County Rehabilitation and Living Center urged the board to support the center and the renovations, which would have been added to the budget had it passed. There was one individual who spoke against the center and urged the board to be more conservative.
