Neillsville City Council Approves 2017 Budget and 2016 Tax Levy

-The Neillsville City Council approved the 2017 budget and 2016 tax levy at their meeting on Thursday.

The total expenditures came to $3,391,097, revenues came to $2,321,924 and the Net City Levy came to $1,119,817, which was an increase of $20,213 over last year’s levy. The mil rate will be $9.57 per one hundred thousand dollars of assessed value which was an increase of 18.5 cents from last year. The council also approved moving the unused levy from 2016 forward to this year. There were no appearances during the public hearing in regards to the budget.

The council also approved several other items as they prepare for the next year. They approved the dental insurance renewal with Humana Dental, which saw an increase of 4.97%. They approved a three year contract for audit services with CliftonLarsonAllen at a cost of $24,800 for the first year and it will go up by $100 the next two years. They approved a three year contract for Assessor Services at a cost of $7,000 this year and that will increase by $50 for the next two years.
