(WDLB) -Voters in the Marshfield School District have said “yes” to a 12-million dollar revenue cap exemption referendum.Tuesday’s budget override referendum passed 59-to-41 percent. Superintendent Dee Wells says the positive vote means the school board can restore preliminary cuts it had made in next year’s budget in case the referendum had not passed. The referendum totals three-million dollars in each of the next four years, and replaces a four-year, two-and-a-half million dollar budget override.
The referendum passed on a vote of eight-thousand-493 to five-thousand-936. Meanwhile, voters in the Colby School District said “yes” to borrowing seven-and-three-quarter million dollars to make a number of building and security upgrades, and storm water management improvements. The vote was 17-hundred to 827.
