Neillsville Man Sentenced for 5th OWI

Monday, November 7th, 2016 -- 10:23 AM

-A Neillsville man charged with his 5th OWI was sentenced in Clark County Court on Friday.

According to court records, on April 17th, around 9pm, a male driver was seen drinking while driving near Kwik Trip. An officer noticed several traffic violations by the driver and the officer pulled the driver over when he nearly hit a curb. The officer told the driver, identified as Thaddeus Nolan, they had received complaints about the vehicle and he noticed a can with “12% alcohol” in Nolan’s cup holder. When the officer tried to have Nolan perform the field sobriety tests, Nolan took of his socks and showed the officer the bottom of his feet stating he couldn’t because of his corns.

During his plea and sentencing hearing on Friday, Nolan pleaded guilty to 5th OWI. Another charge was dismissed on the court’s motion. Nolan was sentenced to 3 years’ probation with 10 months conditional jail time. His license was revoked for 30 months and he must have an ignition interlock device on his vehicle for 30 months. He also owes the courts $1,981.
