-The Highground held the opening reception for their new Learning Center exhibition, “Through the Eyes” on Saturday, November 5th.The reception was held at The Highround Learning Center. “Through the Eyes” is a collection of photographs, memorabilia, weapons, equipment and other items from Vietnam. The photographs were all taken by John Hosier after he lost six of the 11 men in his recon unit. Hosier captured hundreds of images of all kinds of units performing all kinds of duties during the war and they're on display with captions written by Hosier. Over the years John has collected hundreds of items that now make up this amazing exhibition. And it all came about as finding a way to deal with his PTSD.
Guests got to enjoy a VIP experience; John presented some special stories to the guests. There was a Bob Hope USO / Christmas area set up where quests could make and leave a Christmas ornament on the tree. They also got to enjoy a sound track they had that had 1300 excerpts from 59-75 music, news and AFVN. They also served the “best our men and women got in Vietnam”, homemade C-rations along with Saigon Tea and peaches and pound cake.
