The Highground's Veteran's Day Ceremony this Friday

-The Highground Veterans Park will observe Veterans Day on Friday, November 11th.At Noon, the names of the 1,244 Wisconsin KIAs/MIAs in the Vietnam War and 877 names of the Wisconsin KIAs/MIAs in the Korean War will be read and honored with the tolling of the Liberty Bell. The Veterans Day ceremony will start at 3:00pm. It will be held outdoors on the plaza unless the weather is very inclement. In that event, it will be held indoors in The Learning Center. Color Guards from the Thorp VFW #9057 and Loyal American Legion #175 will open the ceremony. Students from Neillsville High School will sing the National Anthem. Lt. Col. Arieyeh J. Austin from Fort McCoy will be the guest speaker.
The names of the Wisconsin service men and women who have died in the Persian Gulf conflicts, including Iraq and Afghanistan, and others will be read as part of the ceremony. A special Recognition of Veterans will be held at the close of the ceremony to give all attendees an opportunity to extend their thanks and gratitude to the veterans present.
