Kristi's Thorp Dairy Bar Cafe Celebrating 10 Years, Final
Tuesday, November 1st, 2016 -- 11:31 AM
-Kristi’s Thorp Dairy Bar Café is celebrating their 10 year anniversary this year.I spoke with Kristi on Friday and she talked about the hard work that goes into running a business.
"You work seven days a week. When we first opened, we actually did Friday and Saturday 1am shifts. And we're to the point now where, the last 3 years, I no longer have to do that. So, it's a lot of hard work. A lot of dedication. You have your every day people and when they don't come in you worry. Because we do have an elder clientele, so you worry."
She also talked about the different meals they provide.
"We do a huge breakfast. And we do do breakfast all day. From omelettes, to eggs, to pancakes, to french toast. All of our soups, pies, specials, cookies are all made from scratch. I think that helps out tremendously because they know they're going to get homemade soup when they come. Not just something they open out of a bag and dump it in. As in for lunch, burgers, fries."
"We kinda still have the little 50's era thing going on. Like this year we put up a new awning, central air. Next year I'm concentrating, I need a new roof. So, little by little. And through the years, we've upholstered and a new furnace. Because we're kinda known for the "ma and pa" thing. We're actually in the ma and pa book of best restaurants.
Kristi’s Thorp Dairy Bar Café will be holding a ribbon cutting this Friday to celebrate their anniversary and she’ll be providing $5 breakfast and lunch specials next week Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday to celebrate as well.
