The 4th graders at Red Creek Elementary in Black River Falls had members of the high school science club join them for a morning of science learning on May 5th.

The high school students, ranging from sophomores to seniors, developed and set up 5 learning stations for the 4th-grade classes to rotate through.  One station was an egg drop build where the students had to create a container to protect an egg as they dropped it from the top of Red Creek's grand staircase.

The second stop was a light refracting station where the students learned about light and were able to use a fog machine.  A "shocking" station was the Van De Graaf generator (pictured).

The fourth graders learned a little bit about how it works.  It was great to watch the kids work up their courage to try the generator.  After the generator, the students made their way to a "crime scene" investigation site.

The students had to follow and interpret a variety of clues to discover who "stole" the softball team's practice equipment.   The final station was a sonar station.  Students had to maneuver around the playground by following the voice directions of a partner.

The 4th-grade classes would like to thank Mr. Anderson and the High School Science Club for all of their hard work in creating a fun, learning-filled morning.  They were especially excited that this event was able to occur since last year's event was canceled due to the COVID closures.
