Neillsville City Council Hears Finance Committee Reports

-The Neillsville City Council heard several Finance Committee reports at their meeting on Tuesday of last week.The city is currently working on next year’s budget. During a Finance Committee meeting held on September 29th, the council heard the budget for the police department. Overall the budget will decrease by almost $39,000 due, in large part, to the department not having to purchase a vehicle as opposed to last year. In the Police Administration portion of the budget, that will increase by almost $5,000 mainly due to computer and equipment upgrades. In the auto portion, it will decrease by almost $44,000, again, due to the department not purchasing a vehicle.
The committee also heard the proposed budget for the fire department. They saw a slight increase for 2017 at $227,410 compared to last year’s $227,314. The fire hall budget decreased from $4,415 in 2016 to $4,362 in 2017. The ambulance also saw a slight decrease from 2016’s $13,544 to 2017’s $13,431. Finally, the city attorney budget was presented. There was a slight increase from 2016’s $28,225 compared to 2017’s $28.600.
