-The Owen City Council had a relatively quiet night at their city council meeting on Tuesday of last week.During the Public Opinion portion of the meeting, one resident reported his driveway is torn up due to the E. 4th Street project. The Public Works Director advised that everything will be put back the way it was once the project is finished. Another resident asked about the city’s website and the city clerk stated they’re currently in transition. A pay request was also approved and the council approved to sell approximately 10 acres of land, south of E. 1st Street, for $2,000.00.
Finally, the council heard the CDC’s report. Tim Swiggum reported that Heartland is looking to close the sale of the OMI Building on October 27th, new construction would occur in 2017 and water and sewer hookups are available for the project. The DRC is working on Autumn Fest planned for October 22nd and a Haunted House will be going on at the Woodland Hotel which is sponsored by the new business “Finders Keep”.
