Administrators' Reports at Greenwood School Board Meeting

-The Greenwood School Board heard the Administrators’ Reports at their meeting on Monday.District Administrator Todd Felhofer reported on the official 3rd Friday enrollment number being 394, up 12 students from this time last year. He also stated that initial indications coming from Madison is that the 2017-19 biennial state budget could be a tough one, with revenues not meeting projections. Also, an open enrollment advertising campaign will again be developed and the district has joined with Spencer, Loyal, Owen-Withee and Neillsville in submitting a TEACH grant. If received, these grant funds must be used for staff development in the areas of technology and STEM. The district will also renew the use of space agreement with Clark County Community Services to allow for school-based mental health services to be provided.
He also reminded the board to begin reading the 8000’s and 9000’s in the draft policy manual regarding operations and relations. The first review will be at the November 14th meeting. Finally, he stated that a special meeting to adopt the 2016-17 School District of Greenwood budget is scheduled for Monday October 24th at 6:30 pm in the board room. High School Principal Todd Fischer provided an update on the on-going work with the math curriculum. Several teachers will be visiting area schools to meet with teachers to gather more information about different math resources. The development of an elementary parent organization is underway. 40 parents and staff met recently to be organizing the group. Homecoming went well, student council and staff feedback will be elicited to be used for planning next year’s events.
