Greenwood School Board Hears Budget Update

-The Greenwood School Board heard an update on the budget at their meeting on Monday.The district’s Business Manager provided the board with an update regarding the 2016-2017 proposed budget, but no action was taken. An Alternate Natural Gas procurement agreement was presented for consideration, but no action was taken. There was also discussion by board members of only receiving compensation for meetings they attend, but, again, no action taken. The district’s Vision Statement, Core Values, and Motto were reviewed and the next step is to present to the staff for feedback. The board conducted a second reading of the 3000 and 4000 series of policies and approved them. They also had a first reading of the 6000’s and 7000’s series regarding finances and property.
The board also received a copy of the curriculum review cycle and heard updates on the district’s assessment performance with ACT scores and the Forward Exam, with individual students reports sent home to parents and the district results embargoed by the state until mid-November. The District Report Card is also embargoed until that time. Finally, the board had a discussion on additional AED’s, but no action taken.
