Greenwood School District Going Virtual for Two Weeks Due to Increased Coronavirus Activity

Wednesday, November 18th, 2020 -- 1:10 PM

-The Greenwood School District will be going virtual for a couple weeks due to an increase in COVID-19 activity.

According to a letter posted on the district’s website, as the positive cases of COVID-19 continue to surge, the number of Greenwood students and staff required to quarantine has risen dramatically. The School District of Greenwood is committed to maintaining a high level of learning while ensuring the health and safety of our students, staff and community. Therefore, the School District of Greenwood will transition to all virtual learning, beginning Monday, November 23. The district expects to remain virtual through Friday, December 4. Administration and the School Board will continue to monitor COVID-19 conditions in our area to determine when to resume in-person instruction. The TENTATIVE reopening of schools is Monday, December 7, 2020. November 23, 24, 30 and December 1-4 will be virtual learning days. More information will be shared with students and parents today from their respective schools. Attendance is expected during scheduled class meeting times. For breakfast and lunch, Food Service Staff will distribute free breakfast and lunch on the following days: November 23, 24, & 30 and December 1-4 for students 18 and under.

Students must pick up breakfast and lunch at the same time. Meals may be picked-up at Greenwood Elementary School at Door 1 from 7:00 am to 12 noon and at the Willard Community Center from 7:00 am to 10:00 am. School/District offices: The school offices will be staffed from 8:00 am-3:00 pm on November 23-24, 30 and December 1-4. The District does not take this decision lightly. Ultimately, we want our students learning in-person each and every day. However, we will continue to make decisions based on the health, wellness, and safety of our students and staff. Your continued partnership in ensuring high levels of learning and your understanding and empathy for those most struggling is appreciated. Greenwood remains a great place to raise kids because of the great people that continue to support our kids. Together, we will get through this and become stronger because of these adverse times.
