Monday, October 3rd, 2016 -- 8:01 AM
-The Neillsville City Council spent most of their meeting on Tuesday hearing the various committee reports. The council heard the Officers Report from Neillsville’s Police Chief. For the month of August, the department had 167 complaints, 84 service calls, 103 traffic citations, 128 traffic warnings, 6 crash investigations, 6 ordinance citations, 19 adult arrests, 3 cases referred to the D.A.’s office, 2 juvenile cases and 38 parking citations. These numbers are consistent with last year.
Some other items of note from the department include the department being a part of the “Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over Campaign” which was held August 19th-September 5th. And the department is working on hiring two new officers. They are filling the positions left vacant by Officer Bembnister who left to join the Clark County Sheriff’s Department and Officer Aumann who decided to switch to a different field. They interviewed 9 candidates, getting that number from the 21 that applied, and they have two candidates selected to offer employment too. They expect them to be ready by mid to late October.
