Neillsville Man Enters Plea for Child Enticement Charge

-A Neillsville man arrested during a crimes against children operation in Marathon County entered a plea to the charges against him.The Marathon County Sheriff's Department, Wausau Police Department and the Everest Metro Police Department organized a local task force team to conduct an Internet Crimes against Children Operation called KG-2 Initiative. This operation was conducted January 14 and 15 of this year and the men believed they were communicating with a 15-year-old girl. Seven men were arrested in the operation and were from Neillsville, Marshfield, Wausau, Marathon, Tomahawk and Schofield.
Jacob Smith was the man arrested from Neillsville. During his court appearance on Tuesday, he entered a guilty plea to a charge of child enticement-sexual contact. A charge of using a computer to facilitate a child sex crime was dismissed and read in. A pre-sentencing investigation was ordered and a sentencing date hasn’t been set at this time.
