Man Arrested After High Speed Chase in Jackson County Sentenced

Tuesday, September 27th, 2016 -- 10:20 AM

-One of the men arrested for possession after a high speed chase in Jackson County back in August was sentenced.

According to the Jackson County Sheriff’s Department, at the beginning of August, a vehicle fled from officers after they tried to make a traffic stop. Eventually, spike strips were deployed and the vehicle was brought to a stop in the Village of Merrillan. Devon Brenson of Tomah and Jacob Williams of Black River Falls were arrested. A K-9 detected drugs in the vehicle and a search turned up drug paraphernalia.

As part of a plea deal, Williams pleaded no contest to, and was found guilty of, a charge of vehicle operator flee/elude officer. A charge of 2nd degree recklessly endangering safety and possession of drug paraphernalia were dismissed and read in. He was sentenced to 18 months in prison and 2 years of extended supervision.
