Administrators' Reports at Owen-Withee School Board Meeting

-The Owen-Withee School Board heard the Administrators’ Reports at their meeting last week.

Elementary Principal Lance Batchelor reported on the Elementary Open House held on August 24th, with almost 100% parental attendance, Picture Day was held Wednesday, September 14th and Grandparents Day, the 30th annual, was on Friday, September 16. District Literacy Assessments began last week, a big thank you to the numerous community groups and individuals who donated to the school supplies for the elementary school. Finally, Forward Financial has provided a large sign to thank the various groups who helped make the new playground equipment a reality.

Jr/Sr High School Dean of Students Julie Van Ark reported on the start of the school year, the Professional Learning Community book study around the book by Todd Whitaker, What Great Teachers Do Differently, 17 Things that Matter Most. Mrs. Scheuer and students will be heading to the American Players Theater in Spring Green to see the play, Comedy of Errors, on September 28th, while September 14th was picture day in the jr/sr high school. Homecoming is next week and Parent/teacher Conferences will be held on Monday, October 3 from 4-8 PM.

District Administrator Bob Houts reported that Rick Eloranta’s tenure on the WASB Board of Directors is coming to an end. Rick has represented Region 5 for the past nine years and is not eligible for re-election. Cheryl Ploeckelman, a board member for the Colby School District is currently the only candidate to fill this position. This position will be voted on at the Region 5 meeting on September 21st. Finally, Board President Julie Wendler read a thank you note from the Marrier family for the quality education their children received in the district while there were open-enrolled.
