Employment Matters at Owen-Withee School Board Meeting
Friday, September 16th, 2016 -- 8:01 AM
-The Owen-Withee School Board discussed employment matters at their meeting on Monday. The board unanimously approved hiring Anna Goerlitz as the C-Team volleyball coach for the 2016 season. The board unanimously approved hiring Marilyn Jaskot as the assistant One-Act Director for this fall’s production. Also, by law, the district must report to the board, on an annual basis, the number of times seclusion and restraint we used in the previous school year. District Administrator Bob Houts reported to the board that the district has no incidents of seclusion or restraint being used with students in the 2015-16 school year.
The board also heard the Summer School Report. Mr. Houts reported to the board that they had enough summer school minutes to add 16 Full-Time Equivalent students to their enrollment number for 2016-17. Each FTE student counts as 40% of a student, so they’ll be adding 6 students to their enrollment for the 2016-17 enrollment count. Mr. Houts also presented to the board that the district is down about 20 students from the 2015-16 school year. Discussion was held as to why this was occurring and what can be done to change the declining enrollments.
