Clark County Health Task Force Insurance Seminars, Part 4

Thursday, September 15th, 2016 -- 1:19 PM

-A task force in Clark County is working to get more residents enrolled in Health Insurance.

I spoke with Rebecca Rosandick, the Public Health Specialist/Health Educator of the Clark County Health Department, and she explained when and where the seminars are.

"So, these seminars are called community events and they are open to anybody who would like to stop by. We encourage people to stop by. But, our first one will actually be in Neillsville here at the Courthouse Auditorium and that will be on September 21st of this year. We are going to start at 5:30pm and it will go until 7pm. At this event, we want to have handout material, flyers and we will also have Certified Application Counselors from Memorial Medical and from Our Lady of Victory to help answer questions."

"Our next event will be in Thorp on October 5th. Again, that will be from 5:30pm-7pm and it will be the same thing with the materials, the information and the resources. Our last event will be on October 19th and that will be in Abbotsford at the City Hall Council Room from 5:30pm-7pm and, again, the materials and information. From our community events, we're not enrolling people right there in health insurance plans. What we want to do is just get the information out, to give people time to think about their options. If they have to talk about it with other family members, it will give them time to talk."

"But we ultimately hope that they come back for the enrollment event, which will be later this year. So, enrollment events are not taking place until November. Our first one of those will be in Abbotsford on November 16th. We will also have one in Neillsville on November 29th and another one in Neillsville on January 24th. Those ones will be more like all day events from 1pm-7pm. The ones scheduled in Neillsville will be at Memorial Medical Center and then the Abbotsford event will be in the City Hall Council Room."

Coming up on Friday, Rebecca will explain why people should have health insurance. Just a reminder, the first seminar is being held next week on Wednesday, September 21st at the Clark County Courthouse in Neillsville from 5:30pm-7pm.
