-City leaders in Owen have decided not to take any disciplinary action against Owen’s Police Chief.Owen’s Police Chief, Andrew Schade, was accused of discrimination after a city employee, Tim Swiggum, filed a complaint against him. Swiggum accused Schade of discrimination for several reasons including an investigation he did into a business Swiggum is involved in. The case was presented to the Police Discipline Citizen Advisory Commission and, although they decided there was some validity to it, no action was taken.
In the end, it was stated that they all need to work together as a community and if they wish to strive and get along, they need to change their ways. Several citizens in attendance at the meeting also stated they filed complaints against Schade. Those could be discussed at a future meeting.
