Clark County Health Task Force Insurance Seminars, Part 2
Tuesday, September 13th, 2016 -- 11:39 AM
-A task force in Clark County is working to get more residents enrolled in Health Insurance.I spoke with Rebecca Rosandick, the Public Health Specialist/Health Educator of the Clark County Health Department, and she talked about why Clark County has such a high rate of uninsured people.
"Well, there are a number of reasons. I think a lot of people think that it's not affordable for them or they just don't have a plan that will match their needs. There are several different types of insurance plans to choose from. And that is what we want to have at our events too. We will have certified application counselors/navigators to kinda help guide people and show them what is available for them. I also think in Clark County, maybe, they just didn't get the information. They missed the deadline; they missed the memo and then just decided to go without. I know transportation can be an issue for some individuals. Maybe some people were already on plans and, for one reason or another, they were dropped or they got a new job and just didn't know what to do about insurance. I honestly think a lot of it could have been a lack of information."
Coming up on Wednesday, Rebecca will explain what the task force hopes to achieve with the seminars and the first one is being held next week on Wednesday, September 21st at the Clark County Courthouse in Neillsville from 5:30pm-7pm.
