Portage County Man Arrested in Thorp for Child Enticement Has Cases Consolidated

Tuesday, September 13th, 2016 -- 10:24 AM

-A Portage County man arrested in Thorp for child enticement and use of a computer to facilitate a child sex crime had some of his charges consolidated into one case during a court appearance last week.

Back in June of 2014, Randy Scott came to the City of Thorp expecting to meet an underage girl, but he was met by officers instead. Scott had exchanged messages with what he believed was an underage girl. In the conversation, he had indicated that he wanted to have sex with the girl, get her pregnant and then take her back to his home where they would live together. Scott initially denied saying that in the conversation, but later admitted to it.

On Wednesday of last week, Scott was initially scheduled for a jury trial, but it was changed to a status conference. It was then decided that the two cases against Scott, for the same incident, should be consolidated. In one case, he was charged with child enticement and use of a computer to facilitate a child sex crime. In the other, he was charged with 10 counts of possession of child pornography. The child enticement case was consolidated into the possession case. Scott will be back in court in December.
