Parents In Spencer On High Alert

Parents in Spencer are on high alert after a young girl was almost abducted last week..According to WAOW TV, it happened on the 400 block of W. Clark Street on September 3 around 10 in the morning. A stretch of road lined with families. The 9-year-old girl was bike riding down W. Clark St. when she said a masked person grabbed her arm. The person was wearing gloves, a mask and was dressed in all black. He then got into a small blue van.
While the young girl was able to get away, the near abduction has rattled residents of the area. Police said they were following protocol for a near child abduction. Spencer police chief Shawn Bauer said they looked into the sex offenders in the area. He said often times child abductions are someone familiar with the family. At this time there are no suspects.
