Community members gathered Tuesday to celebrate the opening of the Everett Roehl Marshfield Public Library.According to the Marshfield News Herald, the new library ??" encompassing roughly 35,000 square feet across two floors ??" replaces the Marshfield Public Library and was built adjacent to the former library building at Maple Avenue and Second Street. It offers new and expanded spaces, including:
• a larger children’s library and dedicated room for children’s programming.
• an enhanced section for young adults and teens.
• a quiet reading area.
• a genealogy and local history room.
• a drive-through window that allows patrons to pick up and return materials from their vehicle.
• several small study rooms.
The $7.2 million facility is named after Everett Roehl, founder of Marshfield-based Roehl Transport Inc., who donated a significant but undisclosed amount of money toward the project. The city of Marshfield also contributed $3 million. The rest of the money came from private fundraising.
