The Granton City Council discussed several items at their meeting last week.Steve Strey from the hardware store wanted to cut the hay on the Highway 10 corner. The Village marked the water shut offs and pedestals in the mowing area. They also discussed the purchase of cell phones. The government account will allow the boys to choose at “no charge” between an SE, Droid Max II, Galaxy S5, or a Droid Turbo. The cost for the cell phone plan is $49.50 per month plus whatever data plan they choose. A six gig plan is 60.00 with a cost of 15 per gig of data for anything over this.
The council also discussed the sidewalk restoration program. The current price for concrete is $6 per foot for concrete 3 1/2” deep and includes 1 ½ “ of foam. The village has to remove the old concrete. The village discussed the side walk width. The new bridge sidewalks are 5 feet wide. The village will continue with 4ft sidewalks as this will make the cost of the sidewalks approximately $100 per section or $3000 per block. Finally, a Granton resident donated $500 as a memorial to her husband in 2012. The village spoke to her about using the money to install a covered picnic table by the dock on the pond.
