Owen-Withee School Board Discusses Borrowing for Energy Efficiency Projects
Sunday, August 14th, 2016 -- 6:19 AM
-The Owen-Withee School Board discussed a resolution to borrow funds for Act 32, or Energy Efficiency Projects, at their meeting on Monday.District Administrator Bob Houts presented to the board the cost for the energy efficiency projects developed by Complete Controls. Total to do all projects is $1.75 million. The Board passed a resolution to exceed the revenue limit by $1.75 million over 10 years to complete the projects.
The board also discussed a Public Hearing on Act 32 Borrowing. Because the board has approved exceeding the revenue limit without going to referendum, a Public Hearing is required and was scheduled for Thursday, August 11 at 7:00 PM in the High School IMC. The purpose of the hearing is to discuss the need for the projects, the savings that can be achieved and how the funding will be obtained. The meeting is for informational purposes only. Members of the community have 30 days to file a petition that would force the board to go to referendum to exceed the revenue limit. If no petition is filed, the projects/loan will move forward.
