Owen-Withee School Board Discusses Athletic Participation for Phy Ed Credit

-The Owen-Withee School Board continued to discuss Athletic Participation for Phy Ed credit at their meeting on Monday.A board member asked the board to review offering .5 physical education credit for participation in athletics. The justification being that it would give flexibility to some students in their scheduling of classes by removing .5 credit from their required load. District Administrator Bob Houts suggested that a motion be made to send the idea to the policy committee as a Board Policy was needed to do this. That motion failed on a 2-4 vote.
Also, Principals Lance Batchelor and Julie VanArk presented the elementary and jr/sr high student handbooks to the board for review and approval. The only change from last year’s handbook was the addition of language dealing with “vape pens and other tobacco simulation products.” The board unanimously approved both handbooks.
