Commodity Carnival at the Clark County Fair, Part 2
Thursday, August 4th, 2016 -- 9:18 AM
-A Commodity Carnival will be held during the Clark County Fair next week.CME Group and the National 4-H Council have partnered for the fourth year to bring the Commodity Carnival to the state’s fairs and carnivals. They will be setup at this year’s Clark County Fair to help teach youth lessons about agriculture, business and the economy. I spoke with Pam Hobson of the 4-H Wisconsin Extension and she explained what the 4-H hopes kids will take away from the carnival.
"A lot of people don't realize where their food comes from anymore. And so we want them to understand a little bit about where their food comes from as well as that the farmer doesn't get all that money. Maybe that pound of bacon you buy in the store, maybe the farmer will only get $.2 or $.3 cents or less for that pound of bacon. We help them understand that the farmer is not the one that's making all that money on that pound of bacon that they might buy in the store."
Coming up on Friday, Pam will explain who will be at the Clark County Fair running the Commodity Carnival.
