Neillsville City Council Approves Salary Increase

Friday, July 29th, 2016 -- 8:03 AM

-The Neillsville City Council approved a salary increase at their meeting on Tuesday.

During a Personnel Committee meeting held on July 14th, the committee approved sending a pay increase for the Director of Public Works to the Common Council, which they approved Tuesday evening. The Director’s salary will increase $3.67 to $30.25 per hour, or $62,920 per year, effective August 1st.

The council tabled a request by the Neillsville Chamber of Commerce to use Sniteman Town Square and closing Hewett Street from Division to 8th Street for the Autumn Harvest Fest on October 9th. The item was tabled because with that large stretch of road closed, people in town were cut off from either side of Neillsville and it made it difficult for them to get through to other areas of town. The Director of Public Works stated they need to talk with the Neillsville Police Chief before a decision is made on how much of Hewett Street to close as there were a lot of complaints last year.
