-The Neillsville City Council began their meeting on Tuesday by hearing a concern from a Neillsville resident. The resident lives on E. 5th Street and claimed that she discovered her neighbor is a registered sex offender. She alleges that he lives in the City of Neillsville, but says his address is on State Highway 95 outside of town. She’s concerned because she said she did research and found out his crimes were against children and she has two little girls of her own. She also alleges that since her neighbor has found out that she’s trying to get him removed from the city, he’s been threatening and intimidating her and her family.
She said that she’s been dealing with the Neillsville Police Department and the Wisconsin Department of Corrections for two years, but nothing has been done. In the end, Mayor Steve Mabie stated that he’d have the city attorney look into and speak with Neillsville’s Police Chief about the situation. He went on to say that protecting the city’s residents is their number one priority.
