Granton City Council Hears Update on Bridge Damage

Monday, July 25th, 2016 -- 9:53 AM

-The Granton City Council heard an update on some bridge damage that occurred.

MSA advised that the leak is estimated to be 13 feet deep and that dangers exist in digging down to the leak. The village sent letters to Randy Anderson and to the DOT requesting immediate action. The council feels the county has made no attempt to contact the village with a repair plan. The village feels that the county was given the opportunity to fix the damages incurred and that they have failed to make any attempts. The village will move forward in contracting the repairs and will forward all incurred expenses to the county. Doine Excavating will be contacted to assist in the repairs. MSA advised the village to be sure to photograph and document the entire repair in case a law suit comes into play. MSA will inspect the damages and provide a professional damage assessment once the leak is exposed.

The village also decide they will make the necessary repairs to the black top near the fire station themselves instead of calling in a black top company since there is only one location in need of patching. Finally, they heard an update on supplemental insurance. Stephanie Ligenza from Combined Solution presented some immediate alternative ideas to provide some health care coverage for village associates. The plans were very affordable and included accident plans, cancer plans, and life insurance options. Information was provided to associates to follow up if they were interested.
