The Highground’s Operation Persian Gulf Welcome Home Veterans Event, Final Days

The Highground’s Operation Persian Gulf Welcome Home Veterans Event continues today with one final full day of activities.Today is Family Day and it begins at 10am with a non-denominational Sunday service. Maggie Mae Hilliard will perform in the afternoon. There will also be many family activities including inflatables and games for kids as well as an evening movie on a large outdoor screen, a picnic and face painting. The Gordy’s Market Free Family Picnic is happening in the afternoon as well.There will be a ceremony beginning at 6pm with speakers including Maggie Mae Hilliard, Lori Dawson and Shilo Harris. There will also be bagpipes at sunset.
The closing day for the ceremony is Monday, July 25th beginning at 8:30pm with a candlelight memorial. Speakers will include Brian Jopek, the father of Ryan Jopek who was killed in action in Iraq, as well as Judith Singer. There will be music by Marnie Schecklman and bagpipes after the ceremony.
