Granton Village Board Reviews Preliminary Audit Report

The Granton Village Board reviewed the village’s audit at their recent meeting.Audit Service Schenck did recommend the board look at utilizing Quick Books for payroll and bill paying as well as utility billing. Recording village activity when it appears on the bank statement rather than when it when it occurs increases the audit costs. They did note that they identified a couple of billing errors in Quick Books as one invoice was not updated with the rate increase and one invoice was charged for 2 late fees. It was suggested the village double check the invoices before sending. The final notation was to update the budget process to include reporting on a monthly basis. The board is required to comment on each item, sign and return the audit for the final audit.
They also discussed the purchase of cell phones. This is on hold until MSA provides the Data requirements. The government account will allow the crew to choose at no charge between an SE, Droid Max II, Galaxy S5, or a Droid Turbo. The cost for the cell phone plan is 49.5o per month plus whatever data plan they choose. The cost is $15 per gig of data.
They’re also going to look into a sidewalk restoration program and the village will mark the water shut offs and pedestals in the mowing area off Highway 10 and the hay will be cut on a first come first serve basis.
