Madison Rising Playing at The Highground on Saturday, Part 2

Thursday, July 21st, 2016 -- 11:58 AM

-As a part of The Highground’s Operation Persian Gulf Welcome Home Veterans Event, the band Madison Rising will be playing after the dedication of the Persian Gulf Tribute at 5:30 on Saturday.

Madison Rising is a patriotic rock band that’s on a mission to not only make great music, but also send a message that American Culture is alive and well. I spoke with Rio Hett, the lead singer of the band, and he discussed their remastered album American Hero (Red).

"It's an album the guys are very proud of. They had the opportunity, in particular AJ Larson, he's the guitarist, he went back in and some of the tracks were remastered and thickened up. From start to the end, it's about the love of America. It questions you if you're going to be ready to stand for it and fight for what you believe in and what you care about. And then it has some of the traditional sounds of America the Beautiful and God Bless America on it."

Rio is actually fairly new to the band. He explained in greater detail.

"I found out about Madison Rising in 2012. I saw them preform on Fox News. They did a rendition of the Star Spangled Banner. I check into it and, like I said, being a vet myself, me and my wife, she's also a vet, we kinda know who supports you as a veteran and who doesn't. And Madison Rising, of course, they support that community. We support that community. When I found out that they were looking for a new vocalist. Who was I to say no?"

Coming up on Friday, Rio will talk about what people can expect at their show at The Highground on Saturday.
