Help is Available for Stuggling Veterans at The Highground's Operation Persian Gulf Welcome Home Veterans Event

-There were many subjects discussed during the media reception at The Highground Tuesday afternoon as a part of the Operation Persian Gulf Welcome Home Veterans Event. One of the big items stressed is this event is being held to not only welcome home the veterans that have served overseas in the Persian Gulf area, but also to help them heal. For the past decade our nation has sent troops to the Persian Gulf for various conflicts. These men and women have come home with both physical and psychological scars. Those scars make it difficult for them to step back into their life back home.
Tragically, these scars often lead veterans to committing suicide. Some of the veterans present on Tuesday talked about calls they had received just that day of fellow veterans that decided to end their lives. They are unable to get the help they need. The veterans at the event wanted others to know that you are not alone. There are others like you and they’re ready to reach out and support and help you. They will be at The Highground this week and this weekend ready to talk to you and ready to help you in any way they can. These also stressed that it’s important the community recognize these men and women and do what they can to help them.
