Black River Falls Fire Department Responds to Structure Fire

-On July 14th, just before 2pm, the Black River Falls Fire Department was paged by the Jackson County Emergency Dispatch Center for a structure fire at 918 Main Street in the City of Black River Falls.Upon arrival the department had a two story single family wood frame structure with heavy showing. The home owner reported he had seen fire in the basement upon looking for the source of smoke on the first floor. The structure did sustained heavy fire damage in the basement and first floor area. The first and second floor areas also have heavy smoke damage and moderate water damage. A damage estimate is not known at this time.
The cause of the fire is undetermined at this time but appears to have started in the basement area. The property owners advised the structure is insured. There were no reported injuries to any firefighters or civilians on the fire scene. Three dogs and a cat did perish. The department was on scene for 3.5 hours with four units and eight firefighters.
