(Liz Welter, USA TODAY NETWORK-Wisconsin) -A central Wisconsin family physician has been allowed to keep practicing at his rural clinic, despite investigators' reports that accused him of incompetence related to the deaths of a pregnant woman and two children. The Wisconsin Medical Examining Board ruled that Dr. Troy D. Schrock, a physician since 2006, engaged in unprofessional conduct in two cases in which the three people died. The state board placed limits on his practice and ordered him to take courses on trauma care and drug treatment, but did not pull his license.
One of the patients was induced into labor; both she and her baby died. In the other case, a 2-year-old child died from second-degree burns that were treated by Schrock, who is self-employed and in solo practice at Country Health Clinic in Unity.
