-The Neillsville City Council rescinded two motions from their previous meeting at the end of June and then re-approved them with new wording at their meeting on Tuesday. At the June 28th meeting, the council approved a wavier motion for keeping chickens at a home on 1209 Lloyd Street and 603 East Street. However, the city attorney stated that she let the council go too far in the discussion and allowed other animals to be including in the wavier besides the chickens as the chickens were the only animal mentioned in the motion.
In order to be legally compliant, the council had to rescind those motions from the previous meeting and then approved the waiver again for the same locations, but stating all the animals included at each location. They approved a waiver for Lloyd Street to include chickens, goats, ducks, pigeons, bunnies and horses and they also approved a waiver for East Street for chickens. These types of waivers are done on a case-by-case basis and it depends on several factors include location, amount of land and more.
