Pittsville Man Sentenced for Slamming Into a Squad Car

-A 63-year-old Pittsville man who slammed into a squad car after he was pulled over in February of 2015 has been sentenced for the incident.At that time, authorities were looking for Gary Schwenn of Pittsville. They had been asked to do a welfare check on Schwenn, but they were unable to locate him at his home. He was later spotted by authorities, but Schwenn stopped his vehicle in the middle of the road, reversed, and slammed into the squad car. He attempted to do it multiple times before he finally fled.
Schween was located and arrested. At the beginning of May, he was found guilty of, due to a no contest plea, criminal damage to property and vehicle operator fleeing and officer. He was sentenced to a year and a half in prison and three years’ probation.
