Neillsville Woman Charged with Animal Neglect has Been Sentenced

A Neillsville woman charged with animal neglect has been sentenced for the incident.Back in August of 2015, authorities received a report of animals running at large on a farm near Neillsville. They discovered that the animals were without water in 90 degree heat and humidity. After obtaining a search warrant, authorities returned and discovered over 43 dogs living in deplorable conditions in the home. They also removed 6 horses who were underfed and in poor medical condition. Carolyn Christie has been charged with 26 counts in relation to this incident including intentionally mistreating animals.
During a sentencing hearing Friday morning, she was convicted of three counts of neglect and was sentenced to 30 days in jail and 2 years’ probation. The rest of the charges against her were dismissed and read in as part of the plea deal.
