Black River Falls Fire Department Responds to Structure Fire on Friday

-The Black River Falls Fire Department responded to a structure fire on Friday.Around 9:40am on Friday, the department received a call from a female party reporting that she needed the fire department for a shed fire. The caller also advised that an individual had some burns from the fire. The caller advised the address of the fire was W11203 Larry Young Road. This address is in the township of Manchester about 10 miles south of Black River Falls. Upon arrival the Fire Chief found a 48’ x 36’ pole shed fully involved with fire and part of the roof collapsed. While responding to the scene mutual aid was requested from the Sparta Fire District for additional water tenders.
A 71 year old individual at the scene reported he was working in the shed and putting gasoline into a tractor. This tractor was to also of had a battery charger connected to it at the time and the gasoline ignited. The person’s clothing caught fire causing him to suffer burns. The party was transported to Black River Memorial Hospital by ambulance and then transferred to the U.W. Madison Hospital Burn Center for his injuries. A second 45 year old party was also transported from the scene with possible smoke and fire inhalation injuries and was being treated at Black River Memorial Hospital. The structure and its contents are considered a total loss.
