Wisconsin Beef Council Designates May as Beef Month
Wednesday, May 5th, 2021 -- 9:08 AM
(Wisconsin Ag Connection) Wisconsin cattle producers are ready to celebrate the summer grilling season by designating the month of May as Beef Month, according to the Wisconsin Ag Connection.
According to Wisconsin Beef Council Director Tammy Vaassen, the cattle industry plays a crucial role in the state's overall economy. Wisconsin now ranks 12th nationally in the cattle feeding industry and has nearly 14,000 beef farms in operation. In addition, there are nearly 7,000 dairy farms across the state that also contribute to the beef supply chain.
Throughout the month, the WBC has a number of activities planned to raise awareness about the beef industry and promote the value of beef in a healthy diet. As the state's beef checkoff, the group helps local producers by providing an avenue to promote their products to a very large consumer base.
